Cascade Ranch was established in the summer of 2010. Our management and training team strive to raise the very best in stock. We practice imprint training with our foals, and continue this partnership training philosophy when we start our horses under saddle. We use gentlest methods and training tools available. Our horses spend the first part of their training finding their aptitude; ensuring that our horses enjoy their discipline is key to their success.

Each horse is then trained in the discipline (s) that best suit him/her. Our focus here is breeding the best stock horses that Flashy Gaits has ever seen, and as such, we have a diverse assortment of disciplines. Out main focus is western, but we do have a small group that competes in English disciplines here at CR. However,sometimes a horse is found to be best suited for another discipline that we do not have a trainer in, such as endurance racing or jumping. This sometimes leads to the sale of a horse. As much as we hate to see our young stock go, it is better for the horse to be in an environment that is conducive to his or her discipline.

Once a horse finds a niche here at Cascade, he or she is assigned to a trainer, rider, and groom. We strive to keep a low level of staff turnover to ensure that a horse becomes familiar with the people working around him or her. We have found that when a horse is comfortable around the staff, the training process is more productive and we have happier, healthier animals.
